Malik Peiris elevated to the rank of Officer of the Legion of Honour
On Wednesday, 29 March 2017, the Consul General of France in Hong Kong and Macau elevated Professor Malik Peiris to the rank of Officer in the National Order of the Legion of Honour. Malik Peiris is Director of the University of Hong Kong School of Public Health (HKU) and co-director of the HKU-Pasteur Research Pole.
At a reception sponsored by the company BioMérieux, the Consul General of France in Hong Kong and Macau, Eric Berti, presented the insignia of the Officer of the Legion of Honour to Professor Malik Peiris, Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur since 2007.
This award was awarded to him in recognition of his expertise, his important contribution to the integration of the HKU-Pasteur Research Pole (HKU-Pasteur Research Pole) at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Hong Kong (HKU), the projects carried out in collaboration with the Pasteur Institute, and its availability to the Consulate to advise the French community in terms of public health.
The reception was also an opportunity to welcome participants from the international course in immunology held at the HKU-Pasteur Research Pole from 19 to 31 March 2017 (9th HKU-Pasteur Immunology Course). Since 2004, Pole has set up a series of three annual courses in the form of theoretical and practical master classes bringing together students from all over the world and prestigious teachers engaged in an altruistic approach to the transmission of knowledge.
